Who can sponsor a MACI star to be honored with a custom flag?
Individuals, families, organizations, governmental entities, and other groups are welcome to nominate someone from the MACI List. Even companies, organizations, schools, academic institutions can sponsor but no company logos will be permitted on flags. The Field of Stars is an educational effort for the purpose of community and academic enrichment.
How can businesses be part of the Field of Stars excitement?
Much of El Paso's sense of community has been the result of family-run businesses. We welcome your stories and urge you to review the MACI List for notable leaders. Note that we elect not to include company logos unless they are part of historical photographs. For businesses and corporations that want to be part of this exciting project and are seeking more significant corporate sponsorship benefits, please email: ElPasoShines@thefieldofstars.com

How was the MACI List compiled?
A committee which includes several of MACI's directors, representation from Lincoln Park, and the Field of Stars founder identified and vetted the 111 Stars on the MACI List. Eligibility was based on the person being an unsung hero or heroine, whose story has not received the acknowledgement it merits and whose determination can serve as an example for young people. The committee also assessed the commitment to community and the significance of their achievements in selecting this first "constellation" of community stars.

How much does it cost to sponsor an 8-foot flag?
Cost of sponsorship for a FAMILY OR INDIVIDUAL for one flag is $400 (prints on one-side only). In addition to the cost of production, the fee helps pay for the design, coordination, marketing, website and development of programming for Lincoln Center and MACI.
Cost for an organization, business, school or other institution to sponsor a flag is $500.

When are the flags displayed?
Flags are displayed outdoors in the park only during events. They are otherwise stored safely. They may be displayed at indoor educational, fundraising and/or other LPCC or MACI events. Flags will be monitored at all times.

Who owns the flag?
Sponsors donate the flags to MACI where they form part of the Institute's permanent collection. They will serve as reminders of community pride and commitment to MACI's future as an important academic resource that can be experienced in person or online. Through the Field of Stars, students and other visitors can be inspired by champions of social justice, fighters for fairness, who also experienced difficulties but, through their community relationships, found the support to overcome challenges. Sponsors will be notified of events and or exhibits where their flag will be on display.

Can the flag design be used on merchandise that is sold in the Field of Stars store?
The store is still under development, but, yes, if ownership of the honoree's image is verified, then, with the sponsor's and artist's permissions, the designs will be modified to be featured on a variety of merchandise, including pennants, apparel, coffee mugs, journals and calendars. A small percentage of the profit from each sale will be paid to support the artist and sponsoring individual or organization. Precise details are being developed. This supports one of Field of Star's foundational goals: help support artists to make a living by creating uplifting, cultural imagery that educates about and celebrates positive cultural traditions.
